Letter from Major-General Bernard Freyberg (7 Clarendon Place, Hyde Park [London]) to WSC, saying that he had been adopted as the Conservative candidate for the Spelthorne Division of Middlesex at the next General Election. Freyberg describes it as a good seat, and thinks from what he had seen of the people, that they should be easy to work with. He thanks WSC for his warm letter of support, which had helped a great deal with the Selection Committee. In a postscript, Freyberg adds that they were living in crazy times, and he feared that they had allowed themselves to be steered into an impossible military position; many changes would have to be made. Signed manuscript.
